Decent value, slow support

I opted for the Annual Multi-Trip Insurance for my frequent short trips. The price was competitive, especially with the renewal discount I got. The coverage details for baggage loss were clear, which is important for me. However, I had a question about combining it with my credit card's rental car coverage, and it took about two days to get a response from customer service through email. It wasn't urgent, but it felt a bit slow. The policy itself seems comprehensive for the price, though.

Great coverage for our trip

I bought the Gold Plan for our family vacation to Italy, and it was fantastic! The process was so easy to understand, and we felt really secure knowing we had solid medical coverage. Definitely using AXA again for our next big trip. I've already told my sister about it!

Comprehensive plan, clear details

I purchased the Platinum Plan for my recent business trip to Japan. The online quoting system was straightforward, letting me compare options easily. I liked that the policy documents were clear about what was covered, especially for emergency medical evacuation, which was a concern. The policy was emailed to me within minutes of purchase. Luckily, I didn't need to file a claim, but having the peace of mind was worth it. The only small thing was navigating the site's FAQ section; it took a moment to find the answer about pre-existing conditions, but it was there when I looked closely. Overall, a solid product for international travel.

Hey guys, thinking of getting the Gold plan for my trip to Italy next month. What's the deal with pre-existing conditions? My mom has a heart thing, worried about that.

K Kate D. 1 month ago
From what I remember, if you buy it early enough after your first trip deposit, they can waive pre-existing conditions. Check the fine print, but usually there's a window.

Yeah, my dad had something similar. You gotta buy it within a specific time, like 10-14 days usually, from when you book your trip. Otherwise, it might not be covered.

How long does it typically take to get a refund if you cancel your policy? My plans just changed suddenly.

D Dana Lindqvist 3 weeks ago
It was pretty quick for me when I canceled a policy last year, like within a week or so after they confirmed the cancellation.

Depends on when you cancel. If it's soon after buying and your trip hasn't started, usually you can get a full refund. They state a timeframe in their policy docs, but it was smooth for me.

Quick question on their discount codes. Saw something about a military discount, is that legit or just marketing fluff?

D Dana 1 month ago
Pretty sure it's legit. I saw it mentioned somewhere, though I haven't used it myself. Probably have to go through a specific link or verify your service.

Yeah, I think they do. My brother-in-law got a discount when he bought his last policy. Look for a section on their site or try clicking through a military benefits site.

Does AXA cover 'cancel for any reason'? Or is it only for specific stuff like sickness?

T Troy 1 month ago
They have a 'Cancel for Any Reason' option, but it's an add-on, not standard. You gotta pay extra for it, and it usually doesn't cover 100% of your costs.

E Emma Ito 1 month ago
Yeah, it's not standard. You have to specifically choose that coverage. It's usually a percentage, like 75% back, and you need to buy it super early after booking your trip.

What's the latest you can buy insurance before a trip? Forgot to do it earlier for my trip next month.

G Gwen Ito 1 month ago
You can usually buy it up until the day before you leave, but some of the benefits, especially for pre-existing conditions or CFAR, have much earlier deadlines. So check that.

AFAIK, you can buy it pretty late, but you miss out on some important stuff like early purchase waivers. So sooner is better.
